MINE WORKINGS ASSESSMENT
Midland Surveying and Engineering
A Total Surveying Service
Studies of underground mine workings that may affect a site are carried
out using the Coal Authorities library of abandoned mine plans.

These mine plans can be correlated with the current surface mapping
to give a base map for site appraisal and design.

The correlation of old mine workings to current surface mapping also
allows underground mining features to be physically marked out on
a site enabling their relationship to site features and design elements
to be clearly understood.

COAL MINING RISK ASSESSMENTS
Proposed development within a Coal Mining Development Referral
Area may require that a Coal Mining Risk Assessment is submitted
with the planning application.
Using up to date information held by the Coal Authority we can assess
the risks that any mining may pose to a proposed development and
recommend appropriate mitigation measures to ensure ground stability
and public safety issues.
